FAQ: Applications
I sent my application to you today, what happens now?
Once we receive your CV and covering letter, your application is reviewed. If we progress your application to the next stage, we'll contact you and conduct a brief preliminary interview. This is usually a video chat with a member of our Graduate Recruitment Team - a real human!
At the next stage, you are invited to attend a face to face interview. For most positions only one interview is necessary. However, occasionally we do invite candidates back for a second interview to discuss things in more detail.
You generally hear back from us with the result of your interview within 3 weeks.
I sent my application to you over 6 weeks ago, but have not heard from you yet. What is happening with my application?
We can receive hundreds of applications each week, so unfortunately it is not possible to reply to each individual applicant. Therefore, if you have not heard from us within 6 weeks of your application, you have not been successful this time.
We are always happy to receive your call if you would like to check on your application or would like feedback.
I am eligible for a Graduate Route Visa, can I apply?
Unfortunately we are unable to accept applications from students or graduates on this visa, due to the length of our training period.
I need sponsorship for a working visa - can I still apply?
Unfortunately we are unable to sponsor any visa applications at this time.
I haven't got any previous development experience, can I still apply for the Graduate Developer role?
Yes, you can still apply as no previous experience is necessary. All we require is a minimum 2:1 in a maths, science, computing or engineering degree and an exceptional academic background. We are committed to providing comprehensive training, and you are allocated trainers who can help guide you when you first join.
I do not have a maths, science, computing or engineering degree - can I still apply?
All our graduate vacancies are analytical and so we only accept applications from maths, science, engineering or computer science degrees.
When is your closing date for applications?
We recruit throughout the year for our core graduate positions and therefore do not usually give a closing date for applications. From time to time we recruit for a specific role where there may only be one position available; for these roles we provide a closing date on the vacancy.
How do you look after candidate data?

Dorset Software holds data electronically on servers in the UK. If you are selected for telephone interview we also print paper copies of your application and record written details of the interview. These are stored securely in our offices in the UK.
How long is it kept for?
All electronic and physical data from an unsuccessful application is stored for 6 months and then securely destroyed.

Occasionally we collate aggregate data (a set of information looked at as a whole) and may share this with other organisations for business purposes only. For example, we might look at the numbers of applicants that have seen our advert on a certain website and discuss this with that supplier company in relation to the performance of the advertising campaign.
